RAY

HI it’s Ray, I spend weekdays with you from 3-7p on The New Mix 106.3! Thanks for making the switch to the MIX! I was born and raised in the Tranquil and Scenic town of Flint, MI. I started my radio career in Flint back in 1999, then moved to Kalamazoo (it’s fun to say, give it a try) in 2002 to work on the radio. I moved back in 2008 to work in the area and be closer to my family and friends. I was shopping in Birch Run when I first heard The New Mix 106.3 and loved it after just hearing a few songs. It’s beyond awesome that I now work at the MIX! I love to catch local sports like the Saginaw Spirit and the Great Lakes Loons, plus any Tigers or Red Wings games. When I’m at home chances are you’ll find me watching American Idol, HGTV and Food Network…..I love to cook, just not well. You make the MIX, so I’d love to hear from you, Ray@mix1063fm.com

AMERICAN IDOL RECAP

"American Idol" auditions were in Portland, Oregon last night. Brittany Zika sang Brandi Carlile's "The Story." JLo said it was one of the prettiest voices they've heard and Randy really liked her edge. She got a ticket to Hollywood. Ben Purdom of Philly was a tad under the weather. He made an attempt at "Born This Way" by Lady Gaga, but the words just blurred together and the judges gave him a serious "no." Britnee Kellogg, a single mom of two boys, cried as she explained the woes she dealt with when she was married. She performed "You're No Good". The judges loved her "rasp and tone." JLo said, "I'm feeling you right now." They all were. She's off to Hollywood.

A nervous and very tall (6' 8" and change!) Jermaine Jones sang "Super Star." The judges agreed he had a gift and they green-lighted Hollywood. Sam Gershman sang "I'm A Woman". And while she got an initial "wow" from appearance alone, she ultimately got a "no" for her pipes. Jessica Phillips: The stylish 25-year-old hails from Brooklyn, where she helps look after her boyfriend of five years following his recent stroke and memory loss. Phillips sang a solid version of the Faith Evans song "Again," and the judges all said yes to Hollywood. Romeo Diahn: The survivor of civil war in his native Liberia performed Bob Marley's "Is This Love" with his eyes closed seemingly the entire time. He got a shot in Hollywood. Naomi Gillies sang Aerosmith's "Cryin" for the man who invented it. JLo said, "wow" and Steven Tyler liked that she was "different." Randy said, "That's how you do it!" They sent her to Hollywood.

Wednesday night's edition of "American Idol" (in Aspen, Colorado) included a few strong auditions.

The "standouts"

Jenni Schick. The judges put her through. Steven liked her enough to kiss her on the lips. She performed Pat Benatar's "Heartbreaker".

Curtis Gray was given the thumbs up to Hollywood. J.Lo thought he was "good looking" and Steven said he was a "major talent."

Richie Law: The next Scotty McCreery?  He was sent to Hollywood.

Haley Smith hit a few rough spots singing Rufus and Chaka Kahn's "Tell Me Something Good," but still impressed the judges with her flower power twist and the personal touch she put on the classic.

Shelby Tweten has bipolar disorder. Her audition impressed the judges – her voice and her fearlessness earned her a "big, huge yes" and a golden ticket.

Is this Khloe Kardashians’ real dad (on the right)?

A few sources today are suggesting that Khloe Kardashians real father is a man named Alex Roldan, who has been Kris Jenners hairdresser for over 30 years. What do you think.....I think we might have a match!

American Idol is back! Here is a recap of what you might have missed.

Fox aired a special 'American Idol' after the NY Giants defeated the SF 49ers in their NFC Championship playoff game.

'Idol' was in San Diego on the USS Midway aircraft carrier.

Kicking off the show was 19-year-old Jennifer Diley-- dressed in stars-and-stripes bikini top and a pair of tiny shorts. She did NOT impress the judges with Jessica Simpson's "With You". Steven Tyler told her, "I think the voice lacks the fire that your get-up does." Despite her attempt to sing Mariah Carey's "Hero", she still got a "No".

The judges LOVED 26-year-old Ashley Robles, who covered Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You". All three judges agreed to send her to Hollywood.

Also getting a pass through were Jayrah Gibson and Aubree Dieckmeyer. Jayrah delivered a soulful rendition of Musiq Soulchild's "Just Friends", while Aubree sang Michael Buble's "Feeling Good".

Next to audition was Ali Shields, who got to "Idol" with the help of Ellen DeGeneres. Though she hit the sour note with her attempt at rapping, the 19-year-old redeemed herself by doing a few bars of Corinne Bailey Rae's "Just Like a Star" and got three "yes" from the judges.

Teen singer Kyle Crews impressed the judges with his version of Monica's "Angel of Mine". All three judges agreed that he was the best male voice of the day.

Also walking away with the golden ticket were Jim Carrey's daughter and Jason Hamlin. Jane got sent to Hollywood by singing "Something to Talk About".

Hamlin, who is nicknamed Wolf has to sing Johnny Cash's "Folsom Prison Blues", as well as Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Midnight Special".
